Arcella is now a densely populated suburb of Padua along the road from the city centre to Camposampiero.
In the place where there was once a church dedicated to Santa Maria della Cella (where Antony passed away), a majestic 19th century shrine now stands, which was then completed in the 30s of the last century.
The cell where the Saint passed away is housed inside the larger church. The shrine also keeps the mortal remains of Blessed Elena Enselmini, a young Poor Clare nun who lived in Arcella during the Saint’s lifetime.
